Major:
Arts Management and Music

Hometown:
Denmark, WI

Extracurricular/Campus Activities:

I am part of the Gender Equality Advocates, and I also like to play in the Wind Ensemble and Orchestra.

Why did you choose to attend UWSP?
It was the perfect distance from home, and UWSP had great Theater & Music Programs.

Do you have a job?
Several.  I am the Job Fair Coordinator for the campus Student Involvement & Employment Office, Production Assistant for the Performing Arts Series Education and an Education Facilitator at the Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum.

Favorite Place on Campus:
The Noel Fine Arts Center.  There’s always a concert or show going on!  I also like studying in the Women’s Resource Center.  They have comfy couches.

What do you like most about going to UWSP?
There are just the right number of students here.  I’m always meeting new people, but still running into old classmates, too.  Also, professors have given me the one-on-one attention that I need.  My advisor specifically has taken the time to sit down and talk to me over lunch, or worked with me on special projects.

What do you like best about the Stevens Point community?
I love all the green parks.  There are a lot of great places to take walks.

What are your career goals?
I hope to work in arts outreach, bringing the arts to people who don’t normally have access to them.  I would also like to plan events.

How has UWSP prepared you for your future?
I attended an arts conference on scholarship last September, where I met arts professionals from all over the Midwest.  I made a lot of connections and was offered several internships, too.  I have had two different arts internships while in school, and will have another full-time internship this summer.  Along with my on-campus employment, special projects, and extra-curricular involvement, those internships are really going to make my resume shine after I graduate.

What’s your favorite UWSP memory?
Premiering new pieces of music with the Wind Ensemble.

What advice would you give to a new UWSP student?
Get out of your room!  I spent way too much time in my room freshman year, and it took longer for me to make friends that way.
