Turn On / Off System Restore

Some viruses tend to hide in your computer's System Restore files, preventing its removal from scanners. These files hide in folders called "System Volume Information." Disabling this feature in Windows should allow for its removal.

  1. To turn System Restore on or off, right click on my computer and select Properties from the menu and you should be at the box below.

  2. Click on the System Restore tab and check or uncheck Turn off System Restore and click OK.

  3. Click on Yes. Your computer may take a while for this to complete. After it completes the properties window will close automatically.

  • REMINDER: Remember to turn on System Restore after you have completed your task.
