Name changes for Exceptional Education major and course titles

The School of Education recently changed the name of the Exceptional Education major to Special Education.  In addition, a number of course titles in the Special Education major were also changed.  Neither of these changes impact course requirements for students.

Over the next few months, you will see these name changes being updated on our department forms, literature, and website.

Name changes for Block I and Block III

The School of Education recently changed the name of two of the Blocks in the Professional Education Program.

"Block I" (Education 331, Education 351 and Education 381) is now "Fundamentals Block".

"Block III" (Education 309, 310, 324, 325, 383, and Art Education 322) is now Elementary Methods Block (EMB).  Elementary Education majors will notice this name change on their Degree Progress Report.

Why Does My Class Now Have a PR By It If It Wasn't There Before?

-Remember that the PR on Com Dis 367, HLED 280, NRES 370, Phy Ed 231, as well as winterim Education 367, just require admission to the Professional Education Program.

-If a PR shows up all of a sudden on a course, it means that the course closed, the department has a waiting list, and they may open up seats.  In this case, they will only take students who have called on gotten on the   waiting list, and only if they have room.  This ensures that only people on the waiting list get the course.
