The Aldo Leopold Nature Center provides structured, hands-on nature education year round to students of all ages. Our programs include seasonal public programs, special events, school field trip experiences, summer mini-camps, in-class programs, teacher training, activities for special interest groups, and land restoration activities. Madison Gas and Electric gives tours of their coal, waste and biomass plant in downtown Madison, for grades 5-12. Group size is limited to 15 or less. Call 608.252.7091 to schedule.
Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) Wildlife Observation Area is part of a 600-acre wetland at the mouth of Nine Springs Creek where over 200 different species of birds have been documented. This area has trails and boardwalks where you can go to enjoy wildlife and learn about wetland management and wastewater treatment. Call 608.222.1201 for more information.

Wisconsin Solar Tour & Demonstration Sites - The Wisconsin Solar Tour is held each fall to demonstrate that renewable energy is practical, reliable, and affordable in today's economy. To find demonstration sites near you, visit www.midwestrenew.org/solartour.
WPPI Energy invites member community schools to tour the WPPI Energy facility to learn more about energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability. WPPI Energy features 2 solar photovoltaic arrays (totaling 9,000 kWh), a geothermal system, plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles, a LEED Gold-certified building, and an opportunity to learn about the System Operations Center (power dispatch center). Energy Center of Wisconsin, a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving energy efficiency in Wisconsin. The organization provides energy-efficiency programs, research, and education to residents, businesses, industry and government.
Forest Products Laboratory The Advanced Housing Research Center (AHRC) was established at the USDA Forest Service, Forest Products Laboratory (FPL), in Madison, WI. FPL has been involved in wood-frame housing research since 1910 and has long been recognized as a world leader in such housing-related areas as engineered wood products and structures, moisture control, material design and performance, coatings and finishes, adhesives, wood preservation, and composites. Ken Dentice, Instructor at Madison Area Technical

inspection, building inspection, management and
supervision, and executive leadership arenas. His training includes
successful completion of a state-sponsored Apprenticeship in
Carpentry-Construction, a B.S. Degree in Business Management, and an
M.S. Degree in Management, Organization Leadership. Positions he has
held include the Director of Building and Inspections, Flood Plain, and
Zoning Administrator for the City of La Crosse, WI; Chief Building
Inspector for the City of Brookfield, WI; Building Construction
Inspector for the City of Milwaukee, WI; and owner of a General
