Welcome to NRES 733 Energy Education: Concepts and Practices, a one-credit graduate level web-based course (Internet delivery) offered through the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and developed by the Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP).

The website component of this course is always open to the general public; the course content is geared primarily for K-12 educators. At certain times of the year, there is university graduate credit available for this course, see Schedule Information or contact the KEEP office. See Registration Information to find out how to register. Enrolled students also participate in an interactive online discussion and complete assignments. On-campus students need instructor permission to enroll in this course.

The course addresses energy concepts relating to energy definitions, natural laws of energy and energy flows in living and non-living systems, and their relationships to understanding and evaluating environmental issues.

Course activities will include exploration of energy readings and pertinent websites, online discussions, and home activities, such as reading utility bills, home energy audits, and calculating the wattages of various home appliances.

Course Goal: Participants will gain a fundamental knowledge about energy and appreciate the nature of energy in their every day lives.

Location: Online

Meeting times: Primarily asynchronous (work at your own convenience) over a four week period though students are encouraged to complete unit readings and assignments by posted deadlines.

Grading: Grades will be based on participation in discussions, completion of assignments, and the quality and thoroughness of your work. Pluses and minuses will be used. Discussions will be evaluated based on considered responses to questions. Assignments should be thorough, complete, and well written.
