White Named Outstanding
Wrestler at Parkside

White captured the 197-pound weight class title and was named the
outstanding wrestler at Saturday�s Wisconsin Open wrestling tournament in
Kenosha.
White was competing for
the first time since suffering an injury in the team�s first competition
of the season on Nov. 8. The Pointers also had winners at 174 pounds as
Cody Koenig and Craig Bollig both advanced to the final and were declared
co-champions.
UW-Stevens Point had four
runner-up finishers, including David Davila at 125 pounds, Brady Holtz at
133 pounds, Joel Burdick at 141 pounds and Mike Hayes at heavyweight. Kyle
Mueller was third at 141 pounds and Tyler Wozniak was third at 184 pounds.
Ryan Hansen took fifth at 149 pounds and Ed Wynimko was fifth at 165
pounds.
The Pointers are ranked
ninth in the country and will host third-ranked UW-La Crosse Tuesday at 7
p.m. at Berg Gym. |
