Wrestling Team Captures Eau Claire Invite for Second Straight Year

    Cody Koenig and Yan White both won individual titles as the UW-Stevens Point wrestling team captured the team title for the second straight year at Saturday's UW-Eau Claire Invitational.
    The Pointers totaled 74 team points to edge out second place UW-Parkside, which had 70.5 points in the 10 school tournament.
    Koenig cruised through three matches and improved to 26-0 for the season with two pins and a major decision victory. White won four matches and ran his record to 23-2 for the year, posting two pins and a major decision victory before beating UW-Eau Claire's Adam Kolo 3-1 in the title match.
    Brad Marten was second at 184 pounds, losing to UW-Parkside's Rory Herring 8-3 in the finals. Marten had beaten Herring in overtime in a dual match on Wednesday.
    Also, Justin Geitner was second at 149 pounds for the Pointers, winning two matches before losing to Brad Becker of UW-Parkside 10-6 in the finals. Also, Jared Esala was third at 125 pounds and Jon Burdick was fourth at 141 pounds.
