Head
Coach Shirley Egner
The all-time winningest coach in UW-Stevens Point women�s basketball
history, Shirley Egner begins her 18th season as head coach of the
Pointers in 2006-07.
Egner has compiled a 290-152 overall
record in her 17 seasons, ranking second on the Wisconsin Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference's all-time wins list. She has led the Pointers
to six consecutive 20-win seasons and a league leading.810 winning percentage during
that time.
In April,
Egner was selected chair of the NCAA Division III women�s basketball committee through
September 2008. As chair, Egner will oversee the national
selection committee that selects the teams and establishes the bracket
for the national tournament. She also serves as chair for the Central
Region advisory committee.
Egner is
very familiar with the national tournament scene, leading the Pointers
to the 2001-02 NCAA Division III championship with a 67-65 win over St.
Lawrence (N.Y.). She then took the Pointers back to the final four again
two years later in 2003-04 where they placed fourth.
The Pointers have achieved their best
success in recent seasons with a 141-33 record over the past six seasons,
which is the best winning percentage of any league team over that span.
UW-Stevens Point's best record was
30-3 during its championship season in 2001-02, becoming just the eighth team in Division III history to
win 30 games in a season. Along the way to the championship, Egner also
guided the Pointers to a 66-60 victory over four-time defending Division
III champion Washington (Mo.), snapping the Bears� 70-game home winning
streak.
UW-Stevens Point
went 20-8 during the 2005-06 season after winning back-to-back WIAC titles
the previous two seasons. In 2003-04, the Pointers also
captured their first-ever WIAC tournament crown as Egner was named the
league�s Coach of the Year.
Last season�s record marks the 16th
time in her career she has led the team to a double-digit victory total.
The Pointers are a league-best 74-22 in the WIAC over the past six seasons.
Egner came to UW-Stevens Point from
Nicholls State University in Thibodeaux, Louisiana, where she served as a
graduate assistant.
A native of McFarland, Wis. and a
1980 graduate of UW-La Crosse, she began her coaching career as head
girls� basketball coach at Shiocton (Wis.) High School. After a one-year
stint as the girls� freshman coach at Monona Grove (Wis.) High School, she
became head girls� coach at Waunakee (Wis.) High School, where she led the
Warriors to a five-year record of 115-40, including conference titles in
1985, 1986 and 1987 and state tournament appearances in 1986 and 1987.
Following the 1986-87 season, she was
named the WBCA District Five Coach of the Year and was chosen to coach the
Class B South Team in the WBCA All-Star Game in Madison.
Egner is the senior
women's administrator and also a lecturer in the
Department of Health, Exercise Science and Athletics at UW-Stevens Point.
Head Assistant Coach Megan
Wilson
 Megan
Wilson begins her second year as the Pointers' assistant coach.
Wilson is a Barneveld native
and was a member of the Eagles' undefeated back-to-back WIAA state championship teams in 1998 and 1999. Upon graduation, she
attended UW-Stevens Point and was a member of the women's basketball team
from 1999-2003. During her time at UW-Stevens Point, she was winner of the
Pointer Award in 2001, 2002, and 2003 as voted by her teammates. She
got her first coaching experience in 2002 when she suffered a season
ending knee injury and was able to help the coaches during the national
championship run.
In December of 2003, Wilson
earned a bachelor of science in Business Administration with a Computer
Information Systems minor. In addition to her coaching duties, she will also serve as the assistant sports information director in the
Department of Health, Exercise Science and Athletics at UW-Stevens Point.
Wilson and her husband, Josh,
reside in Stevens Point.
Assistant Coach Andrea Kraemer
Andrea Kraemer begins her first year as an
assistant coach for the Pointers. Her previous coaching experience
includes head assistant at SPASH high school during the 2005-06 school
year, and also head coach for the 8th grade traveling team in
2004-05.
Kraemer, originally from
Waukesha began her high school career as a North Star playing basketball
on the varsity level from 1996-2000. Kraemer continued her success as a
member of the UW-Stevens Point basketball team from 2000-2004. During
her time as a Pointer, Kramer was a part of four 20-win seasons, and was
a member of the 2002 National Championship team and the 2004 fourth
place team. Andrea ranks 10th on the Pointers� all-time scoring list
with 1,149 points, is second in career assists with 464, and second in
games played with 119. Kraemer took great pride in her role as a
�defensive stopper� on the team during her four years as a Pointer.
Kraemer graduated in May 2005
with a Communications major emphasizing in interpersonal communication,
along with a minor in Business Administration. Kraemer's
responsibilities will include pre-practice skill work, individual
perimeter player development, and assistant recruiting coordinator.
Along with coaching, she is employed at Sentry Insurance here in town as
a Claim Representative for the workers� compensation.
Andrea�s parents are Mike and
Debbie Kraemer.
Videographer/Manager Kole Vivian
Kole
Vivian begins his third year as the Pointers' videographer/manager. His duties include
assisting with practice and videotaping games.
Vivian
hails from Barneveld where he was a member of the Eagles two-time
conference championship boys' basketball team. He was a four year honor
roll student at Barneveld, and transferred to UW-Stevens Point after
spending one year at UW-Platteville.
His
parents are Mike and Bette Vivian.
Manager Kaitlyn Buol
 Kaitlyn
Buol begins her second year as the Pointers' manager. Her duties include
assisting with practices and taking stats during games.
Buol comes to UW-Stevens Point from Barneveld where she was an active member of
Eagle athletics. She was a member of the Lady Eagles basketball team
which claimed three consecutive Six Rivers East conference championships.
The Eagles won the regional and sectional titles in 2003, but fell short
at the WIAA State Tournament. In 2005, Buol was a member of the
WIAA Division 4 state championship team. Buol was a four year starter on
the softball team, making first team all-conference as a senior, and
participated in volleyball throughout high school. Some of her other
accomplishments include being a four year honor roll student and a member
of the National Honor Society.
