Men's Relay
Leads Pointers at National Meet
UW-Stevens Point used a
fourth place finish from its men's 1600-meter relay team to finish 41st at the NCAA Division III outdoor track and field championship at Benedictine
University in
Lisle, Ill.
The relay team of Adam
Baumann, Bryan Buechel, Nick Ver Duin and Pat Leonard claimed
all-American accolades with an effort of 3:13.01. They entered the meet
ranked seventh after qualifying automatically with a time of 3:13.30.
Also for the men, junior Mitch Ellis finished 12th in
the high jump with a leap of six feet, four and three-quarter inches.
UW-La Crosse won the men's team championship with 74.5
points. The Eagles have won the title five out of the last six years.
UW-Oshkosh tied for 10th place with 20 points.
On the women's side, senior Jenna Mitchler scored the
team's only point, claiming all-American honors with an eighth place
finish in the 800-meter run. Mitchler also competed in the 1500-meter
finals finishing ninth overall.
UW-Oshkosh won the women's team national
championship finishing with 52 points. The Titans have won two out of
the last three outdoor titles along with the last three consecutive
indoor titles. UW-La Crosse finished eighth with 23 points.
