The Pointers traveled to UW-Oshkosh for the second time this indoor season for the final meet before the WIAC conference Championships. Firsts were taken by Lyle Eiden in the pole vault, Dan Schwamberger in the 1500, and Jesse LaLonde in the 1000 meters. Lyle's jump vaulted him to a high provisional mark. Seconds were received by Ben Treptow in the 800, Jesse Drake in the 1500, Cory Lesperence in the long jump, Robbie Pieper in the 3000, and Al Tepp in the triple jump. Thirds were grabbed by Clint Eiden in the 1000 and Will Porter in the triple jump. Also, on Friday night members of the track team also got to run against some first class competition in the Division I Iowa State Invite. John Auel and the mile relay team of Tony Asay, Jason Kelly, Curt Kaczor, and Matt Hayes both had provisional marks, and Matt Hayes made the automatic standard in the 800 meter run by breaking his own school record with a time of 1:51.21. The Pointers now will host the 1999 WIAC Indoor Conference Championships this Friday and Saturday.
