Pointers Fall to Pioneers in Season
Opener
Emily Bouche cruised to an easy win at No. 2
singles and Mashell VerBockel and Sarah O'Melia picked up a doubles
victory as the UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team lost its season
opener to Carroll 7-2 on Friday in Waukesha.
Bouche posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Emily
Linse for the Pointers' lone singles win. VerBockel and O'Melia claimed
an 8-6 win at No. 2 over Mindy Benz and Megan Lightfoot for the team's
only doubles victory.
VerBockel also lost a marathon singles
match, winning the first set at No. 4 over Katie Thiesen, but eventually
falling 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.
The Pointers compete Saturday at the
UW-Whitewater Invitational.
