Pointers Take Three Singles Wins in Loss
to Beloit
UW-Stevens Point earned three singles victories
in a 6-3 loss to Beloit in the final regular season women�s tennis match
of the season on Saturday in Beloit.
Mashell VerBockel pulled out a three-set win at
No. 4 singles, taking the third set 10-5 in a 10-point pro set after
dropping a second-set tiebreaker for a 6-4, 6-7, 10-5 victory. Kaitlyn
King won her tiebreaker 7-2 at No. 6 singles, pulling out a 6-3, 7-6 win.
Sarah O�Melia had the easiest win for the Pointers with a 6-3, 6-1 victory
at No. 5 singles.
Emily Riordan took the second set at No. 3
singles, but lost in a pro-set for a 6-0, 5-7, 10-0 setback.
The Pointers concluded the regular season with a
2-9 overall record and have two weeks off before the conference
championships Oct. 21-22. Singles
