Pointers Drop WIAC Opener to
UW-Whitewater
The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team was
swept in straight sets in all six singles matches in losing to
UW-Whitewater 9-0 in the Pointers' conference opener on Monday in Stevens
Point.
Sarah O'Melia had the Pointers' best
performance at No. 6 singles, falling 6-4, 6-2 to Jenny Woyahn. Cathy
Thornburg at No. 1 and Allison Popple at No. 4 both suffered 6-2, 6-2
defeats.
In doubles, Thornburg and Emily Bouche battled
to an 8-5 loss to Kara Theis and Maggie Seitz at No. 2.
The Pointers are now 3-2 overall and will
travel to Edgewood on Wednesday in a rescheduled match from a rainout last
week.
