Pointers Roll to Win Over Ripon
The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team
captured its second win of the season on Saturday with a 7-2 victory
over Ripon College.
The Pointers had four singles victories as
Angie Brown, Emily Bouche, Allison Popple, and Sarah O'Melia all won in
straight sets.
Cathy Thornburg and Emily Bouche survived a
tiebreaker to win 9-8 (7-5) over Jamie Lichon and Lisa Verwys at No. 1
doubles. Angie Brown and Mashell VerBockel won 8-2 at No. 2
doubles and Allison Popple and Sarah O'Melia completed the sweep with an
8-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
The Pointers are now 2-1 and play again Sunday
against Beloit at home. The match begins at 1:00 p.m.
