Pointers Defeat Eagles in Non-Conference
Match
Three players won in both singles and doubles
as the UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team posted a 6-3 non-conference
victory over Edgewood on Wednesday in Madison.
Mashell Ver Bockel teamed with Angie Brown for
a win at No. 2 doubles and also posted an individual win at No. 5 singles.
Allison Popple and Sarah O'Melia combined for a No. 3 doubles victory
while also both winning in singles as Popple cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at
No. 4 and O'Melia earned a straight sets win at No. 6.
Emily Bouche provided UW-Stevens Point's other
win with a straight sets win at No. 3 singles. The Pointers top two
singles players both lost third-set tiebreakers with Cathy Thornburg and
Angie Brown both falling 10-5 after splitting the first two sets.
The Pointers will host UW-Eau Claire on Friday
and UW-La Crosse on Saturday.
