Roskopf, Relays Pace
Pointers on Day Two
Senior Jennie Roskopf
earned a pair of all-American honors Friday night to pace the UW-Stevens
Point women's swimming and diving team at the NCAA Division III
Championships in Minneapolis.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Liz Herder, Roskopf,
Beth Bard and Kelsey Crunstedt also clinched all-American honors as they
finished fifth with a time of 1:46.95. It marked the first all-American
honors for Herder and Roskopf. Bard and Crunstedt claimed their second
all-American honors of their career and these championships.
Roskopf posted a mark of 1:07.36 in the 100-yard
breaststroke to claim her second all-American honors of the day after
earning three honorable mention all-American accolades last season. She
entered the meet seeded 10th, but secured a spot in the finals with a
time of 1:06.30 in the morning prelims.
The 800-yard freestyle relay of Jerica Crook, Meghan
Walsh, Bard and Caitlin Hake secured honorable mention all-American
honors with a 13th place finish. For Bard and Hake, it was their first
honorable mention all-American accolades, the second for Crook, while
Walsh earned her third such honor.
Herder also claimed her
fifth career honorable mention all-American honor, posting a 16th place
finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.16.
After the completion of 13 events, the team is
10th in the standings with 99 points. The Pointers highest finish ever
was their eighth place effort in 2001.
