Places Second in 100-Yard Breaststroke at National Meet
UW-Stevens Points Alex Anderson led the
100-yard breaststroke final entering the last 25 yards, but College of
New Jerseys Steve Swenson edged him at the wall for the national title
at Fridays competition at the NCAA Division III mens swimming and
diving championships in Minneapolis.
Anderson, whose second place finish is the
best performance of his career, was the top seed entering the event and
led Swenson by five-hundreths of a second at the final turn, but Swenson
touched the wall six-hundreths before Anderson in a time of 56.25
seconds for the victory.
Anderson also swam on the Pointers 200-yard

Clapp, Garth Newport and Chase Gross on the All-American swim.
Gross added a 10th place finish in the
200-yard freestyle in 1:40.79 to earn honorable mention All-American
