Anderson Leads
the Way to Three Honorable Mention All-America Finishes
Alex Anderson led the
way for UW-Stevens Point as the Pointer men�s swimming and diving team
competed in the first day of the NCAA Division III men�s championships
Thursday in Minneapolis.
The 400-yard medley
relay had the highest finish with a 12th place effort in 3:26.34. The
200-yard freestyle relay was 13th in 1:23.37. The teams, made up of
seniors Alex Anderson, Garth Newport, Tyler Eloranta and freshman Chase
Gross, earned honorable mention all-American honors in both events.
Anderson also raced to
a 12th place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of
20.83, good for his third honorable mention all-American honor of the
night. Gross also competed in this event for the Pointers and was
seeded 30th going into today. He finished 24th in
the Thursday morning prelims with a time of 21.07.
The Pointers are in
12th place after the first day of the championships with 34 points.
The meet continues on Friday and Saturday
