Pointer Men Claim Own Invitational; Women Second

Alex Anderson won three
individual events and held lead two relay titles as the UW-Stevens Point
men�s swimming and diving team captured the nine-team Get to the Point
Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Stevens Point.
The men�s team totaled
963 points to easily outdistance second place Gustavus Adolphus, which
totaled 819.5 points. UW-La Crosse won the women�s meet with 941.5
points as UW-Stevens Point was second with 704 points.
Anderson won the
100-yard breaststroke in 59.00 seconds, the 50-yard freestyle in 21.43
seconds and the 200-yard breastroke in 2:10.29. He also swam on the
winning 200-yard medley relay in 1:37.23 and the 200-yard freestyle
relay in 1:25.61.
Chad Pettis took both
diving events, winning the three-meter with 410.15 points and the
one-meter with 420 points. Tyler Eloranta claimed the 100-yard freestyle
in 48.06 seconds, while Matt Grunwald won the 200-yard butterfly in
1:55.79 and was second in the 100-yard butterfly in 52.29 seconds.
The UW-Stevens Point
women had two individual champions as Jennie Roskopf won the 200-yard
breaststroke in 2:29.99 and Meghan Walsh was victorious in the 200-yard
butterfly in 2:12.61. The 200-yard medley relay team also swam to a
title in 1:50.41.
