Anderson Named WIAC Men�s Swimming Athlete of the Week
UW-Stevens Point junior Alex Anderson has been named the Wisconsin
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men�s swimming Athlete of the Week
for the sixth time in his career after posting NCAA Division III
championship qualifying times in six events at last weekend�s Wheaton
(Ill.) Invitational.
Anderson achieved a NCAA championship automatic qualifying �A-cut� time
in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational. He swam
56.58 in the preliminaries, before winning the event with a 58.37 in the
finals. Anderson also achieved the provisional �B-cut� standard by
placing second in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:07.61.
He
was on four relay teams for the Pointers which all notched �B-cut�
qualifying times. The 200-medley, 400-medley and 400-freestyle relay
teams all placed second, while the 400-freestyle relay team finished
fourth.
