Two Victories to Open Season
Former Stevens Point Area Senior High standout
Kelly Jablonski opened her collegiate career on a strong note, taking a
no-hitter into the fifth inning and ending up with a two-hit shutout as
the UW-Stevens Point softball team blanked Westminster (Pa.) 2-0 on Sunday
in Kissimmee, Fla.
Jablonski had five strikeouts and walked none in
the victory. Jenny Feidt had a two-out run-scoring double in the fourth
inning and Mandy Jellish scored on a two-out error in the fifth for the
Pointers.
Earlier in the day, the Pointers were no-hit
until the fifth inning and rallied from a two-run deficit for a 5-2
victory over Washingon and Jefferson (Pa.). Stephanie Anderson struck out
11 and allowed three hits in the complete game win.
Rebekah Bauer opened a three-run sixth inning
with a single and scored the go-ahead run on an error for the Pointers,
who are now 2-0 and take on Fontbonne (Mo.) and Western Connecticut State
