First Half Dooms Pointers in Loss to Loras

Three first half goals
sparked 15th-ranked Loras in a 3-1 non-conference women's soccer victory
over UW-Stevens Point on Saturday in Dubuque, Iowa.
The Duhawks had two early
breakaways for goals, getting one from Julie Sapko just 57 seconds into
the match and another from Molly Edwards less than six minutes later.
UW-Stevens Point countered
with an unassisted goal from Kimie Wiepz at the 20:31 mark of the first
half, however, Loras answered less than two minutes later as Edwards
scored again.
The Pointers controlled play
for much of the second half, despite being outshot 10-7 after halftime and
17-11 for the match. Meredith DeCaluwe made four saves in goal for
UW-Stevens Point.
The Pointers open conference
play on Sunday with a match at UW-Platteville.
