UW-Stevens Point Settles for Draw With Eagles
Box Score
For the fourth straight
match, the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team scored an early goal, but
this time it wasn't enough to hold up for a victory as UW-La Crosse
battled back to force a 1-1 tie on Wednesday in La Crosse.
Amanda Prawat dribbled from
midfield and scored off an assist from Erin Walsh just 2:18 into the match
as the Pointers scored a goal in the first 10 minutes for the fifth time
in the past four matches.
However, UW-La Crosse
snapped the Pointers' three-match shutout streak when Sarah Harrington
scored at the 17:31 mark to even the contest. Neither team sat back for
the remainder of the match as the two teams combined to attack the nets
for 56 shots. UW-Stevens Point held a 32-24 edge in shots, including a
17-8 advantage in the second half and 7-5 in overtime.
Stephanie Harbaugh made
eight saves for the Eagles and Meredith DeCaluwe stopped four shots for
UW-Stevens Point, which is now 4-2-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the WIAC. The
Pointers play at UW-Stout in a conference match on Saturday.
