Pointers' Four-Match Unbeaten Streak Snapped
Box Score
A three-goal first half was
too much for the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team to overcome in a 4-1
loss at the University of Chicago on Saturday, snapping the Pointers'
four-match unbeaten streak.
The Pointers were outshot
10-3 in the first half as the 14th-ranked Maroons built a 3-0 lead,
however, UW-Stevens Point held a 6-5 advantage in the second half and got
on the scoreboard when Amanda Prawat scored off an assist from Gwen
Blasczyk with 54 seconds remaining. The score was the same as last year's
regular season defeat to the Maroons, who also eliminated the Pointers in
the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament.
The match was UW-Stevens
Point's final regular season contest. The Pointers will host a Wisconsin
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinal match on
Tues., Nov. 1 against either UW-La Crosse or UW-River Falls at 2 p.m. at
the Pointer Soccer Bowl.
