Pointers Clinch 11th Straight Undefeated WIAC Regular Season

UW-Stevens Point held a 37-0 advantage in shots and rolled past UW-Platteville 5-0 Saturday to complete its 11th straight undefeated Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women�s soccer regular season.

Andrea Oswald and Emma-klara Porter each recorded first half goals, while Kelly Fink scored twice and Molly Cady added goal in the second half as the Pointers improved to 13-0-2 overall and 8-0 in the WIAC. UW-Stevens Point, ranked second in the NCAA Division III, is now 79-0-2 all-time in regular season conference matches and has won 63 straight matches over WIAC opponents.

The Pointers scored at the 10:30 mark of the first half when Oswald took a pass from Alyssa Souza and then added another goal at the 24:25 mark when Porter scored from Katie O�Leary.

Oswald assisted Fink�s first goal at the 62:28 mark and Cady assisted her second goal just over five minutes later at 67:45. Cady finished the scoring off a pass from Andrea Spiel at the 78:42 mark.

The win was UW-Stevens Point�s ninth shutout in 15 matches as the Pointers outscored their WIAC opponents 35-3 this season. The Pointers have one regular season non-conference match left at Edgewood on Tuesday and will host UW-Platteville in their WIAC quarterfinal match for the sixth straight year on Nov. 5.
