UW-Stevens Point scored goals early in both halves and made them stand up in posting a 2-1 women�s soccer victory over UW-Oshkosh Tuesday at the Pointer Soccer Bowl.

Molly Cady scored just 57 seconds into the match when she dribbled to the end line and sent a ball in front of the net that was mishandled by Titans� keeper Sara Tomjanovich and resulted in a goal for the Pointers. Jenny Bruce then scored unassisted 4:40 into the second half when she chipped a shot from 20 yards out that floated in for a goal.

UW-Oshkosh (2-5) rallied when Anna Weickhardt ripped a free kick into the lower left corner from 20 yards out to cut the lead to 2-1. However, Pointers� goalie Melissa Meister made four second half saves to preserve the victory.

UW-Stevens Point (7-0-1) is ranked third in the NCAA Division III and outshot the Titans 21-8 in beating UW-Oshkosh for the 11th time in as many meetings since 1993.

The Pointers play at UW-La Crosse on Saturday at 2 p.m.
