Pointers Pull Out Another Streak-Snapping Road Win at Macalester

ST. PAUL, Minn. Having already ended the nations longest home winning streak earlier this season, the UW-Stevens Point womens soccer team took care of the countrys longest home unbeaten streak Friday night with a 1-0 win at Macalester College.

The victory snapped the Scots 52-game home unbeaten streak, giving Macalester its first home loss since a 2-1 loss to Washington University (Mo.) on Oct. 10, 1997. It was the Scots' first home shutout loss since a 2-0 defeat to Emory (Ga.) on Sept. 8, 1995 - a span of 76 matches. Less than two weeks ago, the Pointers ended the 31-game home winning streak of Trinity (Tex.) with a 1-0 victory in San Antonio.

Emma-klara Porter scored the only goal of the match off a pass from Molly Cady at the 63:19 mark. Porter lofted a ball over Scots All-American goalie Lisa Bauer into the far side of the net.

The Pointers controlled most of the match, holding a 22-10 advantage in shots. Pointers freshman Kortney Krill made five saves in her third career shutout and UW-Stevens Point also had a save from a defender on a shot by Macalesters Ellie Strand with 11 minutes remaining. The Scots had just one other shot after that attempt.

UW-Stevens Points win was its third straight over Macalester all by shutout. Bauer stopped 11 shots for the Scots, including eight in the first half when the Pointers had a 14-5 advantage in shots.
