Point Opens WIAC Title Defense With Win Over Whitewater
UW-Stevens Point began its quest for a fourth straight Wisconsin
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer championship with a 6-1
victory over UW-Whitewater Wednesday at the Pointer Soccer Bowl.
The Pointers jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead and outshot the
Warhawks 19-0 in the first half en route to the victory.
Molly Cady posted two goals and an assist, including the game's
first goal at the 3:26 mark to lead the Pointers. Mickey Jacob, Andrea
Spiel and Renee DeBroux also scored first half goals, while Andrea Oswald
notched a second half score that put the Pointers ahead 6-0.
Oswald and Marie Muhvic each had two assists for the Pointers, who
are now 2-1 overall and outshot the Warhawks 33-6. UW-Stevens Point hosts
Gustavus Adolphus Saturday at 1 p.m.
