Pointers Fall in Battle of
Nationally Ranked Squads
UW-Stevens
Point was unable to battle back from a 2-0 deficit in a battle of
nationally ranked squads Sunday in San Antonio, falling to Trinity
University 2-1.
The
Pointers were ranked 16th in the NCAA Division III preseason
poll and managed just five shots against the 11th ranked
Tigers, who peppered UW-Stevens Point with 26 shots.
Trinity�s
Ellen Abramson scored with four minutes left in the first half and the
Tigers� Jenny Tasian scored with 10 minutes left in the second half.
UW-Stevens Point�s lone goal came with one second remaining in the match
when Jenny Bruce scored off a pass by Marie Muhvic.
Pointers�
goalie Brianna Hyslop made nine saves and split time in goal with Abby
Rabinovitz, who made three saves.
The
Pointers return home with a 1-1 record and host their Wisconsin
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
opener against UW-Whitewater Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pointer Soccer
Bowl.
