Baseball - Position Player

Steve Wiczek (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) - The senior designated hitter batted over .500 as the Pointers won six of seven games on their spring break trip to Florida. Wiczek recorded multi-hit games in four of his seven outings, including four-for-five, with a double and a home run against St. Olaf. He also homered in each half of the Pointers doubleheader sweep of Concordia-Moorhead. For the trip Wiczek was 15-for-28 at the plate for a batting average of .536. He had four doubles, three home runs, 12 runs scored and seven runs batted in.

Baseball - Pitcher

Kevin Pankow (Oconomowoc, WI/Oconomowoc) - The senior right handed relief pitcher picked up a victory and two saves in his first four appearances of the season. Pankow earned the win in the Pointers season-opening come-from-behind 8-7 win over Concordia-Moorhead. He picked up his first two saves of the year by stopping the Cobbers in game two of the double header, and holding Carthage on the last day of the trip. For the week, Pankow gave up just six hits and two earned runs in 5.2 innings. He struck out four while walking none.

Softball - Position Player

Rebekah Bauer (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) - The junior slugger led the Pointers to a 6-4 record in their spring break trip to Kissimmee, Florida. Bauer picked 10 hits, including a three-for-four performance against Ramapo College. For the week, Bauer hit .333 with four doubles and a triple. She scored six of the Pointers' 16 runs, and picked up three runs batted in.

Softball - Pitcher

Katie Knoelder (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) - The senior pitcher fired a complete game shutout in her only start of the week, and combined with another pitcher for a second shutout. Knoedler blanked Augsburg College 7-0 allowing just three singles. She also earned a save by not allowing a hit over three innings in a 4-0 blanking of Concordia-Moorhead. For the week, Knoelder went 1-0, gave up three hits and did not allow an earned run. She struck out four, walked four and allowed opponents to hit just .086 against her.

Men's Track Events

Paul Schliepp (Redgranite, WI/Wild Rose) - The sophomore was a double winner at the Emory Invitational, claiming both hurdle events. Schliepp led a Pointer 1-2-3 sweep in the 110 meter hurdles winning in 15.14 seconds. He then breezed past the field in the 400 meter hurdles claiming first place in 55.46 seconds.

Men's Field Events

Mitch Ellis (Three Lakes, WI/Three Lakes) - The sophomore began the outdoor season right where he left off after the indoor season, winning the high jump at the Emory Invitational. Ellis was the only athlete to clear two meters, soaring over the bar at 2.03 meters (6' 8'').

Women's Track Events

Veronique Van Gheem (Green Bay, WI/Southwest) - The junior runner battled through early morning heat in Atlanta and claimed first place in the 10,000 meter run at the Emory Invitational. Van Gheem circled the track in 39:34.29, running faster in the second five kilometers than in the first five.

Women's Field Events

Bethany Richter (Green Bay, WI/Preble) - The sophomore placed in the top three in all three of her events at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia. Richter won the triple jump with a leap of 10.51 meters (34' 5.75'') and placed second in the long jump, covering 5.09 meters (16' 8.5''). She also recorded a new personal best by more than three meters in the javelin, taking third with a throw of 35.03 meters (114' 11'').
