PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Players of the Week April 17th � April 22nd

Baseball � Position Player 

Ryan Byrnes (Beaver Dam, WI) � The junior had an impressive 16 RBIs and led the Pointers to a 6-2 record last week as they improved to 18-10 overall and 10-5 in the WIAC.  Byrnes hit .469 (15-for-32) with four doubles and three homeruns.  Byrnes� one-out double led to the eventual game winning run for the Pointers in their 1-0 win over UW-Stout on Wednesday.

Baseball - Pitcher

Ryan Hopkins (Libertyville, IL) � The junior right-hander got one win and one save as the Pointers went 6-2 and improved to 18-10 overall, 10-5 in the WIAC.  In Wednesday�s doubleheader against UW-Stout, Hopkins provided four and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief as the Pointers rallied for a 7-5 win in the second game.  For the week, Hopkins pitched 11 and two-thirds innings, allowed 11 hits, one earned run and struck out 11 batters.  Hopkins improved to 2-1 for the year.

Softball � Position Player

Rebekah Bauer (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) - The senior set the school record for career extra base hits with five this week, giving her 57 for her career.  Bauer hit .345 (10-for-29) with four doubles, one home run, five RBIs and five runs scored for the week. 

Softball � Pitcher

Hope Krause (Mishicot, WI) - The sophomore turned in her first career seven-inning shutout and had a career-best six strikeouts in tossing a five-hitter for the Pointers in a 4-0 win over UW-La Crosse on Thursday.  For the week, Krause pitched 28 two-third innings, allowed 30 hits, four earned runs, while striking out 13.  Krause was 2-2 for the week with both losses coming in extra innings. 

Men�s Track Events

Nick Ver Duin (Howards Grove,WI) � The sophomore had two first place finishes at Saturday�s Augustana Invitational in Rock Island, Ill. Ver Duin won the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.39 seconds and was also a member of the victorious 400-meter relay team with a time of 42.00 seconds.  The Pointers finished third at the seven-team event.

Men�s Field Events

Mike Dellemann (Oregon,WI) � The freshman finished eighth of 15 in his first ever decathlon at Saturday�s Augustana Invitational in Rock Island, Ill.  Dellemann had two second place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.21 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, seven inches for the decathlon.  The Pointers finished third at the seven-team event.

 Women�s Track Events

Megan Craig (Bangor, WI) � The senior was the women�s lone champion at Saturday�s Augustana Invitational in Rock Island, Ill.  Craig had a NCAA provisional mark in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:36.53.  Craig�s efforts led the Pointers to a fifth place finish.

Women�s Field Events

Jenna Frey (Spencer, WI) � The freshman turned in a season best performance at Saturday�s Augustana Invitational in Rock Island, Ill, leading the Pointers to a fifth place finish.  Frey took 10th place in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, five inches.
