Prawat, Ryan Named WIAC Athletes of the Week

A pair of UW-Stevens Point athletes have been selected as Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

Amanda Prawat was named the soccer offensive Player of the Week and John Ryan was named the football special teams Player of the Week. It is the first career selection for both athletes.

Prawat, a freshman from Oregon, scored both of the Pointers goals in two matches last week. She scored 2:18 into the match in a 1-1 tie with UW-La Crosse on Wednesday and then scored with 21 seconds left in the first overtime to lift the Pointers past previously undefeated UW-Stout 1-0 on Saturday. Prawat leads the team with six goals and two assists for the season.

Ryan, a sophomore from Verona, continually pinned Waldorf deep in its own territory as the Pointers kickoff specialist in their 42-13 victory on Saturday. Ryan had four touchbacks in his seven kickoffs and limited Waldorf to just two returns for 25 yards. The Warriors average starting field position was their own 20-yard line.
