All UW-Stevens Point Weekend Athletics Events Postponed

      All of UW-Stevens Point�s upcoming weekend athletics events for the weekend of March 29-30 will not be played because of poor weather.

     The Colman outdoor track and field meet scheduled for Saturday will not be rescheduled, while the softball and baseball doubleheaders with St. Norbert will be played at a later date.

     The softball team will host the Green Knights on Mon., April 7 at 3 p.m. at McCarty Field. The baseball team will play at St. Norbert on Tues., April 8 at noon.

     Both baseball and softball will have their home openers on Wed., April 2. The baseball team hosts UW-Platteville and the softball team hosts Edgewood.

UW-Stevens Point to Host Athletics Carnival on Sunday

With poor weather in the forecast for the upcoming weekend, it�s a perfect opportunity for community children to take part in the annual UW-Stevens Point athletics carnival on Sunday at the CenterPoint Marketplace.

Children from throughout the Stevens Point area will have the opportunity to take part in various sports and activities along with UW-Stevens Point student-athletes.

The event will be held Sunday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and will feature several different events for children in kindergarten through fourth grade.

Among the activites planned are basketball shooting with the Pointer basketball teams and shooting areas with the hockey and soccer teams. The swimming and diving teams will have a dunk tank and the track and field teams will run children through an obstacle course. The wrestling team will have the mats available and the athletic trainers will perform taping. Other activities will also be conducted.

Admission to the event is free and treats will be provided. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras to take pictures of the children with the Pointer athletes.
