Track and Field Teams Open Strong at NCAA ChampionshipsUW-Stevens Point had five All-Americans in four different events Thursday after the first day of the NCAA Division III men�s and women�s outdoor track and field championships in St. Paul, Minn. The Pointer women�s team is currently in 10th place with five points and the men�s team is in 17th place with four points. UW-Whitewater leads the men�s standings and Williams (Mass.) leads the women�s team race. Becky Lebak and Kara Vosters both finished in the top eight to earn All-American honors in the 10,000 meter run as Lebak was sixth in 36:14.11 and Vosters was seventh in 36:24.53. On the men�s side, Luke Hilgers was sixth in the hammer throw at 179 feet, six inches and Cory Lesperance was sixth in the long jump in 21 feet, 3.25 inches. Mark LaLonde was eighth in the 10,000 meter run in 31:23.92. |
