Waksmonski (Schofield,
WI/D.C. Everest) � The sophomore catcher led the Pointers to a 5-1 record
this week. Waksmonski batted .480 (12-for-25) with three doubles, three home
runs, seven RBI�s and 12 runs scored. He caught every inning of all six
games and had 41 fielding chances without committing an error. Baseball

Pieper (Wausau,
WI/West) � The junior right-handed pitcher pitched a complete game against
UW-Superior and worked three scoreless innings in relief against UW-Oshkosh.
Pieper defeated the Yellowjackets 4-2, scattering seven hits, striking out
two with no walks. For the week, Piper pitched 12 innings, giving up 11
hits, just two earned runs and three strikeouts. Softball

Karls (Lodi,
WI/Lodi) � The senior catcher led the Pointers to a perfect 4-0 record
this week. Karls hit a clutch game-tying home run in the bottom of the sixth
inning to help the Pointers beat UW-Oshkosh 4-2 on Wednesday. For the week,
Karls batted .364 (four-for-11) with the home run and 27 chances in the
field without an error. Softball

Guckenberger (South
Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) � The junior pitcher did not give up an
earned run while appearing in all four of the Pointers games this week.
Guckenberger earned two wins against UW-Oshkosh and a win and a save against
UW-Platteville. For the week, she had a 0.00 ERA, giving up three unearned
runs on just nine hits. Guckenberger struck out 18 and walked just three. Men�s

Newman (La
Crosse, WI) � The senior sprinter recorded a victory in the 200 meters at
the Augustana Invitational. Newman flew past the field in a time of 22.26
seconds. He also led off the winning 400 meter relay team which qualified
for the NCAA Championships. Newman capped his day with a second place finish
in the 100 meters. Men�s

Mead (Neenah,
WI) � The senior set a meet record and won the high jump by six inches at
the Augustana Invitational in Rock Island, Ill. Mead cleared 6�
10.75�� (2.10 meters) to automatically qualify for the NCAA III Outdoor
Championships. Mead�s jump tied his personal record and is the second best
high jump in school history. Women�s

Butkowski (Stevens
Point, WI) � The senior sprinter turned in a first place finish at the
Augustana Invitational in Rock Island, Ill. Butkowski won the 200 meter run
in a time of 25.99 seconds. Butkowski also ran on the third place 400 meter
relay team which improved its provisional qualifying mark with a time of
48.91 seconds. Women�s

Fowler (Verona,
WI) � The junior claimed the title in the discus at the Augustana
Invitational. Fowler threw 40.84 meters (134� 0��) to edge teammate
Megan Lundahl. She also placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 11.20
meters (36� 9��). |
