Players of the Week May 8 Baseball (Pitcher) Jeff Pieper (Wausau, WI/West) - The freshman right-hander, carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning in a 11-2 win over UW-Superior. He finished with a four-hit, complete game victory. Pieper struck out seven Yellowjackets, walked only one, and did not give up an earned run. Baseball (Position Player) Randy Reed (Appleton, WI/East) - The sophomore outfielder batted .588 for the weekend (10-for-17) as the Pointers swept a pair of doubleheaders from UW-Superior and UW-Stout. Reed highlighted his weekend by hitting home runs in back-to-back innings against UW-Superior. In addition to his home runs, Reed scored eight runs, drove in seven and had two stolen bases. Softball Entire Team - After dropping a first round game to UW-Platteville to open the WIAC Tournament, the Pointers roared back to win four straight games, and advance to the WIAC Championship game. The Pointers played 40 innings over two days and outscored their opponents 28-6. The Pointers won four straight elimination games including three on Saturday. |
