Lowney's One-Hitter Leads Softball Team in Split

Jamie Lowney fired a one-hit shutout as the UW-Stevens Point softball team downed Dana (Neb.) 3-0 late Friday in Fort Myers, Fla. Lowney also had a three-hitter in the second game, but the Pointers were limited to just two hits themselves in a 1-0 loss to LeMoyne (N.Y.).

UW-Stevens Point completed its spring trip to Florida with a 6-3-1 record.

In the opener, Nikki Best, Kimberly Grubba and Carrie Hermsen all drove in runs in the victory. Jill Van Wychen and Kelly Rutta each went two-for-four. Lowney struck out five and walked two in the victory.
