Adamczak Named
Football Gazette Second-Team All-American
Ross Adamczak came to
UW-Stevens Point in the fall of 2000 as one of the states top prep
quarterbacks, but hell leave the university as one of the top tight ends in
the NCAA Division III.
Adamczak was named a
second-team All-American by Football Gazette, marking the seventh time in
the past nine years that the publication has honored a UW-Stevens Point
player on its All-American squads.
A standout
quarterback at Stevens Point Area Senior High, Adamczak found himself behind
All-American quarterback Scott Krause at UW-Stevens Point and switched
positions where he accomplished huge success and joined Don Moehling as the
second UW-Stevens Point tight end ever to earn All-American honors. Moehling
was also a second-team pick by the Football Gazette in 1988 and was a Pizza
Hut first-team selection in 1989.
Adamczak, a 6-3,
242-pound senior, was one of the nations top pass-catching tight ends with
39 catches for 644 yards and five touchdowns as the Pointers posted a 6-4
record in 2004. Adamczak had 20 of his catches in third down situations and
ranked fourth overall in the WIAC in receiving yards per game. He had at
least two catches in every game, including eight catches for 132 yards to
lead the Pointers to a victory over UW-Stout. Adamczak completed his career
with 92 catches for 1,537 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Adamczak was one of
only two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference players honored on
the All-American squad as UW-Oshkosh kicker Lucas Raschke was a second-team
selection. |
