Krause Named National Offensive Player of the Week

After completing nearly 95 percent of his passes last week, UW-Stevens Point senior quarterback Scott Krause has been named one of four NCAA Division III National Offensive Players of the Week by Football Gazette.

Krause, a Waunakee native, was 18-for-19 passing for 269 yards and five touchdowns in the Pointers 63-0 win over Tri-State (Ind.) last week. His 94.7 percent completions was a school record and actually better than the Division III record of 91.3 percent, but he needed a minimum of 20 completions to qualify for the national record.

He threw three touchdowns from more than 35 yards and also rushed four times for 49 yards.

Krause was also named the WIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time in his career. He was joined on the national honor by Principia (Ill.) quarterback Shawn Brown, Linfield (Ore.) quarterback Tyler Matthews and St. John Fisher (N.Y.) running back Jason Meyers.
