Zimmermann Selected
to World Series All-Tournament Team
UW-Stevens Point sophomore Jordan Zimmermann was
recognized for his efforts at last weekends NCAA Division III baseball
championship with a spot on the 11-player All-Tournament team.
Zimmermann was involved in the tournaments best
pitching duel, holding eventual national champion Marietta to four hits and
one earned run with 11 strikeouts in a 2-1 loss. He was also in the lineup
at designated hitter for the Pointers next two games and went
four-for-seven with four runs scored and four RBIs. He hit a key three-run
homer to spark a five-run fourth inning and lead the Pointers past Aurora
(Ill.) in an elimination game.
Zimmermann is the first UW-Stevens Point player
to earn the honor, since no Pointers player was selected to the team in
their only other World Series appearance in 1997.
