Peetz Named WIAC Baseball Position Player of the Week

UW-Stevens Point senior first baseman Matt Peetz has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference position Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

A Spring Green native and River Valley High School graduate, Peetz recorded two hits in each game as the Pointers swept a four-game weekend series at UW-La Crosse. He went eight-for-15 (.533), scored six runs and drove in seven against the Eagles. His two-run home run in Thursdays second game gave the Pointers a 3-2 lead which they would

extend to a 9-6 victory.

In both of Fridays games, Peetz started the game-winning rally with a double. He scored the tying run in the eighth  inning of game one and the winning run in the ninth of game two. For the week, he had three doubles and a home run.

For the season, Peetz leads the WIAC in batting with a .490 average (25-for-51). He extended his hitting streak to nine games with hits in both games of Mondays doubleheader sweep of Lakeland. Peetz also leads the Pointers with 16 runs scored and 14 RBIs.

UW-Stevens Point is currently 11-5 overall and has won nine straight games.
