Peetz Named WIAC
Baseball Position Player of the Week

senior first baseman Matt Peetz has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference position Player of the Week for the first time in his
career.
A Spring Green native and River Valley
High School graduate, Peetz recorded
two hits in each game as the Pointers swept a four-game weekend series at
UW-La Crosse. He went eight-for-15 (.533), scored six runs and drove in
seven against the Eagles. His two-run home run in Thursday�s second game
gave the Pointers a 3-2 lead which they would
extend to a 9-6 victory.
In both of Friday�s games, Peetz
started the game-winning rally with a double. He scored the tying run in the
eighth inning of game one and the winning run in the ninth of game two. For
the week, he had three doubles and a home run.
For the season,
Peetz leads the WIAC in batting with a .490 average (25-for-51). He extended
his hitting streak to nine games with hits in both games of Monday�s
doubleheader sweep of Lakeland. Peetz also leads the Pointers with 16 runs
scored and 14 RBI�s.
UW-Stevens Point
is currently 11-5 overall and has won nine straight games. |
