Pointers Roll Past Warhawks For Dual
Victory
UW-Stevens
Point won nine of 10 matches and got back-to-back pins from Al
Stacilauskas and Craig Bollig in rolling to a 39-4 wrestling victory over
UW-Whitewater on Saturday at Berg Gym.
Stacilauskas
posted a second period pin at 174 pounds and Bollig followed with another
at 184 pounds. Jon Burdick added a technical fall at 149 pounds and Chris
Brown earned a victory by disqualification at 157 pounds. Jake Wozniak
recorded a major decision for the Pointers at 165 pounds.
Mitch Szwet
registered a takedown 25 seconds into overtime to claim a 9-7 victory at
197 pounds, while Mike Hayes at heavyweight, Joel Burdick at 141 pounds
and Jake Calhoun at 133 pounds all earned victories by decision.
Andy
Livingston recorded UW-Whitewater�s only win with an 8-0 major decision
over Jered Kern at 125 pounds.
The Pointers
snapped a five-match losing streak with the win and improved to 8-6
overall and 3-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
UW-Stevens Point hosts Lawrence in a WIAC match on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
