Schmitt Named First-Team Women�s Hockey All-American
For the second time in
her career, UW-Stevens Point senior women�s hockey player Jackie Schmitt has
been named a first-team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association.
Schmitt, a Buffalo
Grove, Ill. native, was also a first-team selection in 2003 and led the Pointers
to the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association regular season and tournament
titles with a 22-3-1 record. Earlier this season, she became the second player
in the five-year history of the NCHA to earn first-team All-Conference honors
four straight years.
Along with her award
in 2003, Schmitt joins Ann Ninnemann in 2002 as the only All-Americans in school
history.
Schmitt finished her
career as UW-Stevens Point�s all-time leading scorer with 127 career points. She
also was among the all-time NCAA Division III leaders with 27 career
game-winning goals.
This season, she
posted 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points to finish second on the team in
scoring. |
