Bauer and Jellish Land First-team All-WIAC Softball Honors

UW-Stevens Point landed two of its outfielders on this years All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball team. Sophomore leftfielder Rebekah Bauer and freshman centerfielder Mandy Jellish were both named to the first team. Stephanie Anderson, a sophomore pitcher who attended Milwaukee King High School, was named honorable mention.

Bauer, a Stevens Point native who attended SPASH, set a new school record with 25 extra-base hits this season. Bauer broke the old record of 22 held by Kari Rowekamp in 1996. Bauer led the Pointers in almost every offensive category with a .380 batting average, 30 runs scored, 49 hits, 14 doubles, four triples, seven home runs, 35 RBIs and 92 total bases. Her 14 doubles and seven home runs were the second-highest single-season totals in school history and her 92 total bases ranked third. She also led the team with a .713 slugging percentage and .420 on-base percentage.

Bauer ranked in the top 10 in numerous statistical categories at the conference level. She ranked second in extra-base hits, third in home runs, third in slugging percentage, fourth in total bases, fifth in RBIs and ninth in batting average.

Jellish, a Kaukauna native, led the Pointers with 134 at-bats and 12 stolen bases this season.  She ranked second on the team with a .358 batting average and was also second with 48 hits and 49 total bases.

Jellishs .358 batting averaged ranked 12th in the WIAC. Of her 48 hits this season, 47 were singles. She played in all 41 games and made 40 starts in centerfield all as the teams leadoff hitter.

Anderson was the top pitcher for the Pointers this season as she led the team with nine wins, 14 complete games, 123.2 innings pitched and 80 strikeouts. Anderson, who played her freshman year at UW-Parkside, posted a 2.21 ERA that ranked 10th in the WIAC.
