PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Players of the Week April 10th � April 16th

Baseball � Position Player 

Tim Schlosser (Oconomowoc, WI) � The sophomore hit .556 (five-for-nine) with four runs scored and seven RBI�s.  Schlosser�s effort helped the Pointers defeat Lakeland 15-9 and 15-5 in the doubleheader on Wednesday.  In game one, with the Pointers up 10-9, Schlosser hit a grand slam home run to give the Pointers a five-run cushion.  The sophomore also had two doubles and another home run in the doubleheader.

Baseball - Pitcher

Josh Perkins (Two Rivers, WI) � The senior right-hander went 1-0 for the week as the Pointers went 2-0 and improved to 12-8 overall, 6-3 in the WIAC.  In a 15-9 victory over Lakeland College on Wednesday, Perkins worked out of a bases loaded jam with three straight strikeouts in the fourth and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over the final six innings of work to earn the win.  Perkins improved to 2-2 for the year.

Softball � Position Player

Mandy Jellish (Kaukana, WI) - The junior had a big week as the Pointers went 4-2 and improved to 16-7-1 overall.  Jellish hit .571 (12-for-21) with eight runs scored, two doubles and one triple.  Jellish also stole two bases this week and now has four stolen bases for the season.

Men�s Track Events 

1600-Meter Relay Team (Pat Leonard � Chicago, IL/Brother Rice, Bryan Buechel � St. Cloud, WI/New Holstein, Adam Baumann � Marathon, WI, Nick Ver Duin � Howards Grove,WI) � The men�s 1600-meter relay team posted an automatic qualifying time for the national meet, placing third overall in 3:13.30.  The athletes� efforts lead the Pointers to a fifth place finish at Friday�s North Central Invite in Naperville, Ill.

Men�s Field Events

Kyle Schofield (Green Bay, WI/Preble) - The freshman helped lead the Pointers to a fifth place finish at Friday�s North Central Invite in Naperville, Ill.  Schofield took fifth place in the hammer throw with a toss of 155 feet, nine inches.  The throw was a personal best for Schofield.

Women�s Track Events

Jenna Mitchler (Kaukana, WI) - The senior had a provisional qualifying time for the national meet with her win in the 800-meter run.  Mitchler had a winning time of 2:13.98.  Mitchler�s effort helped the Pointers finish third of eight teams at the North Central Invite on Friday in Naperville, Ill.

Women�s Field Events

Amy Frey (Spencer, WI) � The senior helped lead the Pointers to a third place finish at Friday�s North Central Invite in Naperville, Ill.  Frey claimed the triple jump with a leap of 37 feet, 5.25 inches.  Her effort marked a lifetime best and was also a provisional qualifying mark for the national meet.
