Baseball � Position Player
Nat Richter (Green
Bay, WI/Preble) � The junior second baseman had six hits and drove in the
go-ahead run in both games of Sunday's doubleheader against UW-Platteville.
Richter drove in Chuck Brehm to spark a three-run eighth inning and give the
Pointers a 7-4 victory in the first game. In the nightcap, Richter singled home
Brehm again in the third inning of the Pointers' 8-0 win. For the week, Richter
batted .308 (eight-for-26) with a double, four RBIs, four walks and two stolen
bases.
Baseball � Pitcher
Adam Fox (Little Chute, WI/Little Chute) � The senior
lefthanded pitcher allowed just one earned runs in two appearances this week.
Fox picked up his second win of the season on Sunday, holding UW-Platteville
hitless over 1 2/3 innings of relief. For the week, he allowed one earned run in
seven innings pitched, giving up seven hits and four walks. Fox struck out four
hitters and opponents batted just .226 against him.
Men�s Track Events
Mark LaLonde
(Park Falls, WI/Park Falls) � The senior runner claimed the conference
championship in the 10,000 meters at the WIAC Championships this weekend in Eau
Claire. LaLonde crossed the finish line in 30:20.44, a full 12 seconds ahead of
the next runner. His time was fast enough to earn automatic qualification into
the NCAA Championships in three weeks.
Men�s Field Events
Ryan Shepard
(Cornell,
WI/Cornell) � The senior jumper placed second in the high jump at the WIAC
Championships. Shepard cleared 2.00 meters (6' 6 3/4'') to fall just two inches
short of conference champion Tom Raszak of UW-Oshkosh.
Women�s Track Events
Marie Burrows
(Menomonee Falls,
WI/Menomonee Falls) � The freshman runner won the 400 meter dash at the WIAC
Championships in Eau Claire. Burrows won the event in 57.09 seconds narrowly
defeating Melissa Marvin of UW-La Crosse by six hundredths of a second.
Women�s Field Events
Becky Clarke
(Antioch, WI/Antioch) � The senior won the javelin throw at the WIAC
Championships, hosted by UW-Eau Claire. Clarke won the event with a throw of
38.31 meters (125' 8''). She also placed fifth in the long jump.
