Players of the Week � May 3

Baseball � Position Player

Matt Polomis (Wausaukee, WI/Wausaukee) � The junior right fielder went five-for-eight with three doubles in a doubleheader sweep of Cardinal Stritch University on Wednesday. He also helped the Pointers to a weekend split with UW-Whitewater, by picking up a pair if hits in both games on Sunday. For the week, Polomis was 10-for-23 (.435) at the plate with four doubles. He scored four runs while driving in six.

Baseball � Pitcher

Matt Simonson (Plover, WI/Stevens Point Pacelli) � The freshman righthander earned his first career complete game victory over WIAC champion UW-Whitewater on Saturday. After surrendering two runs on two hits in the first inning, Simonson held the Warhawks to just three hits the rest of the way, including retiring 10 batters in a row in the late innings. Simonson threw nine innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits, while striking out one and walking one.

Softball � Position Player

Rebekah Bauer (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) � The sophomore leftfielder got her school record 25th extra base hit of the season with a triple against Milwaukee School of Engineering on Wednesday night. For the week, Bauer was batted .455 (five-for-11) with a triple. She scored two runs, swiped two bases and had two runs batted in.

Softball � Pitcher

Amanda Maule (Tomahawk, WI/Tomahawk) � The freshman righthander retired the first 16 batters of the game and picked up a 5-1 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering. Maule struck out 10 of those first sixteen hitters and finished the game with a career-best 11 strikeouts. She gave up one earned run on three hits and did not walk a batter in six innings of work.

Men�s Track Events

Adam Aufdermauer (Sturgeon Bay, WI/Sturgeon Bay) � The freshman runner knocked 30 seconds of his previous personal record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the WIAC Qualifier meet in La Crosse. Aufdermauer finished third in the event with a time of 9:44.00.

Men�s Field Events

Ryan Shepard (Cornell, WI/Cornell) � The senior jumper claimed the title in the high jump at the meet in La Crosse. Shepard cleared 1.95 meters (6' 4 3/4'') to best 24 other competitors. Shepard was making his first return to competition since an injury sidelined him earlier this season.

Women�s Track Events

Megan Craig (Melrose, WI/Bangor) � The junior runner set a new personal record in winning the 800 meters at the WIAC Qualifier meet in La Crosse. Craig edged nationally-rated Missy Buttry of Wartburg College with a time of 2:15.79. Her time provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Championships later this month.

Women�s Field Events

Becky Clarke (Antioch, WI/Antioch) � The senior was a double winner in field events at the meet in La Crosse. Clarke claimed first in the long jump with a jump of 5.05 meters, and then easily took honors in the javelin with a throw of 38.49 meters. Her javelin mark won the event by six feet, but fell just one centimeter shy of the NCAA provisional qualifying standard. Clarke also placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles.
