Players of the Week � Apr. 26

Baseball � Position Player

Jake Frombach (Stratford, WI/Stratford) � The sophomore second baseman extended his hitting streak to 10 games during a four-game weekend sweep of UW-Superior. Fromabach went four-for-five including a pair of RBI singles in the Pointers 5-4 win over the Yellowjackets on Saturday. On Sunday, he went four-for-six in a 21-4 Pointer rout. For the weekend, Frombach hit 10-for-18 (.556) with six runs scored and two runs batted in.

Baseball � Pitcher

Shane Standifer (Princeton, WI/Princeton) � The junior right-hander did not allow UW-Superior a hit over the final five innings as he pitched a 4-0 complete game shutout on Saturday. After escaping trouble in the first three innings Standifer finished with a career-high nine strikeouts. Standifer gave up five hits and five walks in his first career complete game shutout.

Softball � Position Player

Rebekah Bauer (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) � The sophomore leftfielder set a single-season school record with her 24th extra base hit of the season on Monday. She hit .385 for the week (10-for-26) with 10 RBI�s, six runs scored, two doubles, two triples and home run. She did not strikeout all week.

Softball � Pitcher

Stephanie Anderson (Milwaukee, WI/King) � The sophomore hurler went 3-2 with a 1.59 ERA and one save for the week. She had a shutout over Lakeland and also posted wins over UW-La Crosse and UW-River Falls as well as a save against UW-Stout. Anderson pitched 22 innings, allowing 18 hits, nine earned runs and nine walks while striking out 14 batters.

Men�s Track Events

Curt Johnson (DeForest, WI/DeForest) � The senior runner was the highest placing Division III runner in the Invitational 10,000 meter run at the Drake Relays. Johnson placed third overall, behind two Colorado State runners, with a time of 30:11.48. With his time, Johnson automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in May, eclipsing the qualifying standard by nearly 13 seconds.

Men�s Field Events

Josh VanderVelden (Kimberly, WI/Kimberly) � The senior thrower placed fourth among Division III athletes in the shot put at the Loras Invitational in Dubuque. VanderVelden's toss of 15.37 meters placed seventh overall in the event, and missed the provisional qualifying standard by just eight centimeters.

Women�s Track Events

Ashleigh Potuznik (Baraboo, WI/Baraboo) � The sophomore distance runner sent a new personal record in winning he 5,000 meter run at the UW-La Crosse Classic. Potuznik ran past the field in a time 18:04.39, winning the race by over 27 seconds.

Women�s Field Events

Julia Slabosheski (Princeton, WI/Princeton) � The sophomore broke her own school record in the discus at the UW-La Crosse Classic. Slabosheski recorded a throw of 48.82 meters (160' 2''), breaking her old mark of 45.44 meters (149' 1'') by over 11 feet. He throw automatically qualified her for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in May. Slabosheksi also placed 10th in the shot put.
