UW-Stevens Point
Captures WIAC Men�s All-Sports Award
For the sixth time in eight years, UW-Stevens Point
claimed the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men�s all-sports
trophy for its overall success during the 2003-04 sports season.
UW-Stevens Point also placed fourth in the women�s
all-sports standings and was second in the overall competition for the second
straight year, falling one-half point short of UW-La Crosse for the overall
title.
The Pointers shared the men�s trophy with UW-La Crosse
and UW-Whitewater. UW-Stevens Point won the men�s conference title in swimming
and diving and finished second in basketball, football, cross country and
wrestling.
UW-Oshkosh edged UW-La Crosse by one-half point for
the women�s award and finished four and a half points ahead of UW-Stevens Point.
The Pointers won women�s titles in basketball and cross country, while placing
second in soccer.
Overall, the Pointers totaled 110 points, but finished
just one-half point behind UW-La Crosse, which captured the award for the fourth
straight year. |
