May 22-24 - at NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships (Canton, N.Y.)

UW-Stevens Point will compete this weekend at the NCAA Division III outdoor championships in Canton, N.Y., taking several qualifiers in both the men�s and women�s competitions.

Certain competitors for the Pointer women will be Jody Butkowski (Stevens Point, WI) in the triple jump, Amanda Nechuta (Mosinee, WI) in the shot put and discus, Melissa Seefeldt (Cato, WI) in the hammer throw and Teresa Stanley (Whitewater, WI) in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

This past weekend, Julia Slabosheski solidified her place in the women�s discus competition with a throw of 149 feet, one inch at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational on Saturday.

On the men�s side, Aaron Carley (Mauston, WI) will compete in the long jump and Jeremiah Rolfs (Iola, WI) in the discus. Noah Eschenbauch (Rosholt, WI) and Mark Wierzba (Rosholt, WI) will both take part in the hammer throw. Scott Dreger (Cambria, WI) will compete in the decathlon.

At the North Central men�s invite on Friday, Matt Legel (Crystal Lake, IL) improved his 800-meter dash time to 1:52.02 and Jesse Baumann (Verona, WI) lowered his 1500-meter run time to 3:52.80 as both will participate this weekend at nationals. The 4x400-meter relay of Legel, Carley, Matt Buska (Mosinee, WI) and Andrew Schliepp (Redgranite, WI) also will compete this weekend after posting a time of 3:14.77 on Friday.

Official lists of competitors will be announced on Monday night.
